What you’re working towards
Connect invented anatomy, habitat and behavior in one usable design brief. The worked result was written for this guide; it is not a recording of an AI run.
Your choice also saves this guide’s current worked-example checkmarks. Only this browser; no account or sync. View saved guides

Make a start
One step at a time.
3 steps
Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.
Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.
01
Open a text assistant and try the example
For a concrete starter route, open https://chatgpt.com and choose New chat. Sign in if that service requires it for your access. You can also use another text assistant you already have. Copy the entire prompt below (the instructions to paste), including the sample input, into its message box and send it. No upload or image generation is needed. Expect a complete fictional creature sheet and image prompt. The wording may differ from the example; the constraints should not. If it only explains the task, ask it to produce the finished result using the supplied input.
Your starting prompt
Create a fictional creature design sheet with anatomy, habitat, movement, feeding, defense and a scene description. Explain how each major feature serves a behavior. Keep it clearly imaginary and do not present it as real biology.
Use this complete made-up practice input:
Creature name: Reedwhisk.
Habitat: Invented shallow marsh with broad floating leaves and soft mud.
Size: About the size of a house cat, as a fictional visual comparison.
Fixed features: Four broad feet, a long flexible snout, reed-like whiskers and a flat tail. No wings, venom, fire or extra limbs.
Behavior: Walks slowly across muddy margins, feels for floating seed pods with the snout, eats only the fictional pods, hides among reeds when startled.
Visual tone: Curious and gentle. Palette: Mud brown with dull green markings.
Deliverable: Written creature brief and one illustration prompt; no actual image.
Return the finished result. Keep it fictional and do not add claims about real people, products or events.
02
Check, correct and save
Read the response beside the original input. Count exactly four feet and no extra limbs in the description. Find a connection between each fixed feature and movement, feeding or hiding. Check the text labels the animal and biology as invented. If a check fails, paste the correction prompt below in the same conversation. Check the revised result yourself, then copy the version you want into your own notes or document.
Your starting prompt
Check your previous result against this original input:
Check these requirements one by one:
- Count exactly four feet and no extra limbs in the description.
- Find a connection between each fixed feature and movement, feeding or hiding.
- Check the text labels the animal and biology as invented.
Quote each problem, explain the smallest repair, and return a complete corrected version. If there is no problem, say which checks you applied. Do not claim that your own review proves quality or audience response.
03
Optional: use your own material
Open a new chat. Copy the prompt below and replace [PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE] with fictional habitat, anatomy limits, behaviors and prohibited features. Use material you own or may use and leave out private details. The output limits written in this prompt stay in force; change a limit here too if you want a different one. Send the whole message. Expect the same kind of written result with your new material. Check it against this new input and these limits, not the sample’s names or numbers. If it differs, describe the exact mismatch and ask for a complete correction before saving.
Your starting prompt
Make an imaginary creature design sheet from my new constraints below: anatomy, habitat, movement, feeding, defense and scene description. Connect each major feature to a behavior. Preserve limb counts and exclusions; label it fiction rather than real biology.
If an essential detail is missing or two requirements conflict, ask me before filling the gap.

Optional: improve the result
Design variation within the same species
Use environmental change to guide a restrained visual variation. Keep the first version so you can compare the change. This extension uses the worked example. Return to that example chat, or paste its input and your checked example answer into a new chat first. Do not apply its sample values unchanged to your own input.
Advanced prompt
Propose an adult reedwhisk from a drier marsh margin. Keep the four feet, snout, whiskers, flat tail and pod-only diet. Change at most two visual details and explain their story purpose without claiming real evolutionary proof.
Use the original input and result in this conversation. If either is missing, ask me to paste it before continuing.

Reedwhisk — fictional creature design
Anatomy: A low body about the size of a house cat, supported by four broad feet. A long flexible snout reaches ahead of the body. Thin reed-like whiskers frame the snout; a flat tail rests behind. Mud-brown color carries dull-green streaks.
Habitat: The shallow margins of an invented marsh, among floating leaves, soft mud and upright reeds.
Movement: Slow steps spread weight across the broad feet. The flat tail extends behind as a visual counterbalance when the snout reaches forward; this is a fictional design rationale, not a tested biological claim.
Feeding: The snout nudges floating seed pods toward the mouth. The reedwhisk eats only these invented pods.
Defense: When startled, it goes still among reeds. The thin whiskers and green streaks visually echo the surrounding stems. It has no weapons or special attack.
Feature-to-behavior links:
- Broad feet support the idea of moving over soft muddy ground.
- Flexible snout lets the animal reach pods without moving its whole body.
- Reed-like whiskers and muted markings help its hiding behavior read visually.
- Flat tail completes the low, steady silhouette.
Scene and illustration prompt:
One imaginary reedwhisk at a shallow marsh edge, four broad feet on soft mud, long flexible snout gently nudging a floating seed pod, reed-like whiskers, flat tail behind. Mud-brown body with dull-green markings, broad floating leaves and upright reeds. Curious gentle mood, clear side view showing all major features. No wings, extra limbs, venom or fire. Written prompt only; no image has been produced.
These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.
Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.

A few things to watch for.
Combining attractive animal parts can create a design with no behavioral logic. Ask what each feature does in this fictional habitat.
A plausible-sounding explanation is not evidence that the creature could exist. Keep realism claims modest.
