Create a one-page website starter from a service idea
Shape your offer, draft the page copy and adapt an included HTML starter before checking it for publication.
Illustrative resourceNot tool-testedFreelancers and first-time founders turning a concrete service into a website
What you’re working towards
A complete one-page brief, draft copy and a downloadable HTML starter. Its sample contact section sends no messages and collects no information. Open and adapt the file locally; browser checks, consumer-tool testing and publication approval are still required.
Your choice also saves this guide’s current worked-example checkmarks. Only this browser; no account or sync. View saved guides
Saving needs JavaScript. Reading and downloading this guide does not save it.
Included example · illustrative HTML file
Download the website starter
A self-contained HTML page with inline styling, fictional service copy and a demo-only contact explanation. No external resources, forms, storage or service connections. Browser and consumer-tool tests are unperformed.
Not tool-tested. Review and adapt before using it for a real project.
Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.
Set up the worked example
Open
Open a fresh text-AI conversation, a plain-text or code editor and your browser. Download slide-polishing-starter.html using ‘Download the website starter’. Keep that original unchanged and make a separate copy called my-website-draft.html. The .html ending tells the browser it is a web page; open it with the browser to see the page, and with the editor to see its source text. No installation or account connection is needed. This local starter cannot send enquiries.
Add the sample
In step 1 replace [paste] with all of ‘The starting point’ (Synthetic input), from ‘Synthetic service concept’ through ‘No external endpoints or storage.’ In step 2 paste your checked step 1 brief under APPROVED BRIEF and the entire downloaded HTML source under STARTER HTML, from <!doctype html> through </html>. In step 3 put the checked brief under APPROVED BRIEF AND COPY followed by “Use the page copy in STARTER HTML; change it only where it conflicts with this brief.” Then paste the entire starter source again under STARTER HTML. In step 4 paste the checked brief and the complete source of your newly saved file under the corresponding headings. Replace the bracketed directions; do not send them unchanged. Send one step at a time in the same chat. ‘The intended result’ (Illustrative output) is an authored example, not evidence that your new page has been tested.
Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.
01
Turn the idea into a specific offer
Extract the approved audience, price, deliverables and limits. A starter can supply the layout; it cannot supply missing facts about your business.
Your starting prompt
Turn this business idea into a one-page website brief. Extract audience, problem, service, deliverables, price, inclusions, exclusions, timing and enquiry route. Label facts approved, proposed or missing using my notes. Do not invent credentials, customers, results or revenue. Ask for missing facts needed for truthful offer copy.
IDEA AND APPROVED FACTS:
[paste]
Expect
A brief separating approved facts, design proposals and missing facts. Keep the five-section shape: introduction, offer, process, questions and contact.
Check
The fictional offer is £120 total for one existing presentation of up to 10 slides, one consolidated revision round, an editable presentation and a PDF. No fixed turnaround, customer proof, cancellation terms or business/privacy details are supplied. Email enquiries are the eventual goal; this exercise’s contact control is a demo only.
If it differs
If a missing fact becomes a promise, quote the source and ask for a corrected brief. Keep the missing information visible instead of inventing it. In this sample the starter already supplies draft copy; check that copy against the brief before using it in step 3.
02
Download, open and inspect the starter
Download the HTML file, keep the original and open a copy in your browser. It needs no installation. Try the navigation, questions and demo contact control; no information should be sent.
Your starting prompt
Compare the starter HTML source below with my approved brief. List which sections, fictional details and offer terms need editing. Separate copy changes from functional changes. Preserve the demo-only contact behavior and no-external-resource boundary. Do not claim you opened or tested the page from reading its source.
APPROVED BRIEF:
[paste]
STARTER HTML:
[paste the downloaded file contents]
Expect
A source-based edit list separating wording changes from changes to behavior. Separately, open your local copy in the browser, try its section links and question panels, then open ‘Preview an enquiry (demo)’.
Check
The main button moves to Contact. The demo panel says no message is sent and no information collected; hello@example.com is plain demonstration text. Reading HTML in chat does not establish what you observed in a browser.
If it differs
If the browser shows code, check that the saved filename ends exactly in .html rather than .html.txt and open it with the browser. If you cannot open local HTML on your device, continue with source review only and mark browser checks unperformed. Do not substitute a live website builder or connect a service.
03
Adapt one file with a coding prompt
Edit the HTML directly, or give this prompt, the file contents and your approved brief to your chosen coding tool. Save the returned complete file as a new .html copy.
Your starting prompt
Adapt this standalone HTML starter to the approved business brief. Return one complete HTML file with inline CSS, semantic headings, visible keyboard focus and a narrow-screen layout. Keep all factual claims traceable to the brief. Preserve native details/summary controls and a contact control that only reveals a clearly labeled demo explanation. Add no scripts, external fonts or assets, endpoints, storage, forms, tracking, payments or publication. Do not add dependencies. Retain the fictional/demo notice wherever real facts or functionality are unfinished. List changes and remaining checks; never claim tests you did not run.
APPROVED BRIEF AND COPY:
[paste]
STARTER HTML:
[paste file contents]
Expect
One complete HTML file, plus a separate change list and remaining checks. In your editor put only the HTML into my-website-draft.html, keeping the downloaded original. Save as plain UTF-8 text, a text encoding that preserves characters such as £; exclude chat commentary and code-fence lines.
Check
The new source keeps the approved terms, visible demo notice and native opening/closing panels. It has inline styling in this file, no scripts, external resources, forms, uploads, tracking, storage or payment features. Keep the address as plain text even when adapting the offer.
If it differs
If the answer is a fragment, ask for the complete file from <!doctype html> to </html>. If it adds a working contact route or unsupported claim, request removal before saving. If your editor only saves formatted documents, stop at the source draft until a plain-text editor is available.
04
Check the edited page before using it
Reopen your saved file. Check every price and limit, use Tab and Enter, try a narrow window and open the demo panel. Keep publication separate until real business details and owner approval are in place.
Your starting prompt
Review the final HTML source against the approved brief. Report unsupported claims, changed offer terms, broken internal anchor targets, external resources, forms, scripts or storage. Provide a manual browser checklist for navigation, native disclosures, keyboard focus, narrow-screen layout, text contrast and the demo contact explanation. Mark source observations separately from unperformed browser or consumer-tool tests. Do not publish or enable real enquiries.
APPROVED BRIEF:
[paste]
EDITED HTML:
[paste]
Expect
A source audit and a separate browser checklist. Reopen the saved local copy and try Tab to move focus, Shift+Tab to move back and Enter on links or panel headings. Make the browser window narrow and check the whole page remains readable.
Check
Compare every price and limit with the original source, verify links reach the right sections, focus remains visible and the demo explanation opens. Record only checks you actually performed; visual readability is not a measured contrast test. The local page is unpublished and cannot receive enquiries.
If it differs
For a failure, describe the exact link, panel or wording and paste the affected saved source for correction. Save a new revision and repeat the affected checks. Keep publication blocked until real business/privacy and cancellation details, a separately authorized enquiry method and owner approval are in place.
Optional: improve the result
Keep later builds tied to approved facts
Keep a versioned copy of the HTML and a change log that ties every claim to an approved fact. Review scope changes before they become website promises.
Advanced prompt
Compare a proposed page revision with the approved brief. For every changed claim, record the source fact, old wording, proposed wording and whether owner approval is still needed. Check that changes to price, scope, turnaround or enquiry method appear consistently throughout the page. Report new functional requirements separately from copy edits. Create three visitor tasks to test on the downloaded page, with a clear expected result for each. Keep actual browser observations separate from proposed tests, and preserve demo-only contact behavior until a real enquiry method is authorized.

Optional: use your own input+
Make your own local demo page
Use only approved, non-sensitive service facts and assets you may use. Keep the downloaded starter as a separate original. Replace every bracketed instruction below with your actual details, or explicitly say missing. After checking the brief, send these messages one at a time in the same chat: “Draft five sections of page copy from MY FACTS: introduction, offer, process, questions and demo contact. Compare the full STARTER HTML with the checked brief. List copy changes and functional changes separately; keep missing facts marked and preserve the demo-only, no-external-resource boundary. Wait while I check the proposed copy.” “Using my checked brief and copy below, adapt the complete STARTER HTML into one self-contained file with inline styling, semantic headings, visible keyboard focus, narrow-screen layout and native details/summary panels. Return the complete HTML separately from a change list. No scripts, external resources, forms, endpoints, storage, uploads, tracking, payments or publication. Keep the contact panel demo-only and any address plain text. CHECKED BRIEF AND COPY: [paste the full version you checked].” Before sending the next message, copy only the complete returned HTML into a new plain-text UTF-8 file named my-website-draft.html, separate from the downloaded original. Exclude commentary and code-fence lines. Save it, reopen that saved file in the editor, and use its complete source in SAVED HTML below. “Audit my saved HTML below against MY FACTS and the checked brief. Report unsupported claims, changed terms, broken internal section links and prohibited functionality. Give a manual browser checklist and separate source observations from unperformed tests. Do not publish or enable enquiries. SAVED HTML: [paste the whole file from your editor].” After the source audit, open that saved local file in your browser and perform the browser checks above. If the audit requires changes, save the corrected revision, reopen its source and repeat the audit before the browser checks. Missing editing/browser capability means those steps remain pending. These personal checks replace the sample’s offer checks. The original advanced extension stays sample-scoped until supplied with your own checked brief and proposed revision; it does not authorize live functionality.
Your own-input prompt
Help me make a local, unpublished, demo-only one-page service website using MY FACTS and the full starter below. First extract the audience, problem, service, deliverables, price including any known fees/tax, inclusions, exclusions, timing and eventual enquiry goal into a brief. Label each fact approved, proposed or missing and ask about important gaps. Do not invent testimonials, clients, results, credentials, prices or guarantees. Stop after the brief for my review. Later we will draft and check five-section copy, adapt the HTML and review a saved local copy. This task never authorizes deployment, account access, live contact, bookings, payments or data collection. A demo contact panel must only explain that it sends nothing.
MY FACTS
[Paste your permitted service description, audience, approved prices/fees, exact scope, deliverables, timing limits, tone and missing facts. State the eventual enquiry goal without adding real customer details. An eventual goal is not authorization to implement it.]
STARTER HTML
[Open the supplied slide-polishing-starter.html in a plain-text editor and paste every line from <!doctype html> through </html>. Treat its fictional business facts as sample content to replace, not facts about your service.]
Check your own result
Your own approved prices, fees, scope and timing are consistent everywhere; no sample business claims remain as real facts.
The saved .html file is separate from the original and contains complete source only. Its contact control explains the demo and cannot send or collect information.
Source review and your actual browser observations are recorded separately. Missing capabilities and checks stay pending.
A local draft is not a production-connected site. Publication and real enquiries require separate review and authorization.

This input is synthetic. The output is a written illustration of the intended result, not a verified AI-tool run.
01 / The starting point
Synthetic input
Synthetic service concept: Sample Slide Studio, a fictional solo business.
Audience: independent consultants with an existing presentation that needs clearer wording and more consistent layout.
Offer approved for this exercise: tidy up one existing presentation of up to 10 slides for £120 total. The price includes one consolidated revision round, an editable presentation and a PDF. No extra tax or mandatory fee is added in this fixture.
Work covers clearer wording, consistent layout and basic formatting. It does not include original research, fact-checking, a new presentation from scratch or extra slides.
Timing is agreed after reviewing the brief and confirming availability; no fixed turnaround has been approved.
Website goal: receive email enquiries. Ask for the number of slides, what the presentation is for and any desired deadline. Do not request a file upload on the page.
Demonstration email address: hello@example.com. It must be replaced with a verified business address before publication.
Tone: straightforward, warm and specific. Visual direction: text-led, dark text on a light background; no stock photos required.
No customer results, testimonials, client logos, portfolio examples or credentials have been supplied.
Booking, payments, analytics, a contact form and publication are outside this brief. Cancellation terms and business/privacy details are not yet supplied.
Starter boundary for this exercise: implement a standalone HTML page with inline CSS and no external resources. The contact control must reveal a demo explanation, not open email, send a message or collect data. Keep the demonstration address as plain text. No external endpoints or storage.
Copies text only. For image or file tasks, use the source files named in the steps too.
DELIVERABLE: BRIEF, DRAFT COPY AND HTML STARTER
A standalone HTML starter is provided with this playbook. It contains the fictional page copy and a demo-only contact explanation. Browser and consumer-tool tests have not been performed, and the page has not been published.
PAGE JOB
Help an independent consultant understand the slide tidy-up offer. A real enquiry is the eventual business goal; this starter only demonstrates the contact section. Use one page with five sections: introduction, offer, process, questions and contact.
1. INTRODUCTION
Name: Sample Slide Studio
Headline: Give your presentation a clearer shape.
Supporting copy: Clearer wording and a more consistent layout for consultants with a presentation already in progress.
Primary button: Ask about your presentation
Button destination: the Contact section on this page.
2. THE OFFER
Heading: One deck. A clear scope.
Copy: £120 total for one existing presentation of up to 10 slides. Includes clearer wording, consistent layout, basic formatting and one consolidated revision round. You receive an editable presentation and a PDF.
Scope note: Original research, fact-checking, a new presentation from scratch and extra slides are not included.
3. THE PROCESS
Heading: Start with a short enquiry.
Step 1: Tell us your slide count, what the presentation is for and any desired deadline.
Step 2: We review the brief and agree scope and timing, subject to availability.
Step 3: The work includes one consolidated revision round and delivery of your editable presentation and PDF.
Timing note: A desired deadline is a request; timing must be agreed before work starts.
4. QUESTIONS
Can you create a presentation from scratch?
This offer is for an existing presentation. A new deck and original research are not included.
What if my presentation has more than 10 slides?
The £120 offer covers up to 10 slides. Extra slides are outside this offer; mention your slide count in your enquiry so the scope can be discussed.
How quickly will it be ready?
Timing is agreed after reviewing the brief and confirming availability. No fixed turnaround is promised.
5. CONTACT
Heading: Tell us what you are working on.
Copy: A real enquiry would include your slide count, the purpose of the presentation and any desired deadline. There is no need to upload a file on this page.
Demo control: Preview an enquiry (demo)
Behavior: reveal a native HTML explanation that no message is sent and no information is collected.
Demonstration address: hello@example.com, shown as plain text only.
BUILDER NOTES
- Keep the section order above and use the exact approved offer copy.
- Use a text wordmark, dark text on a light background and clearly distinguishable links. The starter uses wider-screen columns that collapse to one column on narrow screens.
- The first button scrolls to Contact. The demo control reveals an explanation; it never opens email, sends a message or displays a sent-message confirmation.
- Support narrow screens and keyboard navigation. Check readable contrast, visible focus and the heading order after building.
- Do not add a payment flow, booking calendar, analytics, upload or working contact form.
BEFORE PUBLICATION
Download slide-polishing-starter.html and open it in your own browser. Edit a copy in a text editor or take the coding prompt below into your chosen tool with the starter source and approved brief. Keep the demo contact behavior until a real method is explicitly approved. Before publication, replace fictional details, obtain approved cancellation and business/privacy information, check the page in a browser and obtain owner approval. Those review and publication steps remain unfinished.
These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.
Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.
