Camera axis map

Original authored teaching file. Actual digital checks are scoped separately; no consumer AI, reader, rehearsal or physical print trial is claimed.

Not tool-tested. Review and adapt before using it for a real project.

Top-down y-up map with A at minus one, zero, B at one, zero and the card at the origin. C1, C2 and C3 are below the y-equals-zero axis. C4 at zero, three is marked rejected. Dashed aim lines connect the permitted cameras to the proposed subjects.
Original synthetic schematic; digital artifact checks only. Open the full file to inspect small details.

Source files to work with

Make a start

One step at a time.

3 steps

Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.

Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.

01

Paste the geometry and request a plan

Start a new chat in a text assistant you already have permission to use. Paste the complete prompt below. No image upload is needed for this exact coordinate exercise. Expect a complete SVG map or safe SVG source, admissible shot list and action coverage, including the rejected candidate. Save complete SVG source in a UTF-8 text file with a .svg extension and open it in a permitted image/vector viewer. If the assistant gives only general filming advice, ask for the exact source-based map and ledgers.

Your starting prompt
Produce the complete planning deliverables from this source. Do not claim actual footage or a rehearsal.

FICTIONAL SEATED CONVERSATION GEOMETRY
Mathematical top-down coordinates: x increases rightward, y increases upward. Coordinate units are arbitrary planning units, not measured room dimensions. Seated actors A=(-1,0), B=(1,0); tabletop card initially centered at (0,0). The line through A and B is y=0.
OWNER-SUPPLIED RULE: every used camera must remain at y<0; A must stay screen-left of B in wide shots. Do not substitute a generic filming rule for this explicit requirement.
Candidates: C1=(0,-3), C2=(-2,-2), C3=(2,-2). Proposed C4=(0,3) is deliberately invalid under the rule. Reject it. A candidate lying exactly on y=0 would also fail the strict rule.
Required actions: R1 A giving B a card; R2 B reading it; R3 both reacting. The card begins on the tabletop at (0,0), so A must pick it up before the proposed transfer; preserve that initial state. Actors keep their seats. No unstated route around the axis, moving camera, elevated position, stunt or unsafe action is allowed. Room clearance, lens, camera height and actual shot contents are not supplied.

DELIVERABLE
Supply a simple actual top-down SVG map with the axis, actor/card positions, every candidate and clear rejected status for C4; a shot list with camera, aim and framing; an action-to-shot table; planned eyeline notes; unknowns; and a separate unperformed tabletop rehearsal/filming review. A wide must be proposed to show both actors and the entire transfer/reaction; singles may support but cannot prove both are visible. Use source IDs. Preserve exact source positions. No scripts, external files, remote fonts or photographic mockups. This is proposed geometry, not filmed footage or proof of screen direction.
02

Check the map, coverage and saved version

Open the actual SVG/PNG map and compare coordinates with the source, including the y-up convention. Apply the sample checks below, then read the shot and action ledgers together. If a camera crosses the rule or an action lacks complete proposed coverage, quote its ID and source requirement and request the complete corrected map and ledger. Save them separately, close and reopen the files, and confirm the corrected positions and shot IDs remain. Use the blank rehearsal card only when a person actually performs the check; no filming is implied.

Your starting prompt
Audit the map and shot list against the original sample coordinates and strict y<0 rule. Recompute camera admissibility and ideal left/right relations, and trace every required action to complete proposed coverage. Distinguish single-reaction support from both actors reacting in one wide. Report real lens/framing/rehearsal unknowns. Return complete corrected files and ledgers if anything disagrees.
03

Use your own scene and owner rule

Start a new chat. Replace every bracketed field below with your own complete, non-sensitive scene information. No upload is required if geometry is exact; if you supply images, use permitted files and confirm the assistant can inspect them. Your rule, actor count and action list replace the sample. Open the returned map, check every coordinate and coverage relation, save under a new name and reopen. Missing essential geometry or an unclear side rule is a blocker, not a reason to guess.

Your starting prompt
Create a camera-side and action-coverage proposal using only MY INPUT. Return a self-contained safe SVG map or complete source with an explicit coordinate transform; classify every candidate by my rule; give camera/aim/framing shot rows, action-to-shot coverage, planned eyelines and unknowns. Separate complete coverage from partial single-angle support. Do not claim any shot exists.

MY INPUT
Actor and prop IDs, coordinates and initial states: [replace]
Coordinate units, origin and axis directions: [replace]
Owner-supplied action axis, allowed camera-side rule and required screen order: [replace]
Candidate camera positions and allowed movements: [replace]
Required actions and whether they must be visible together in one shot: [replace]
Excluded unsafe actions and physical access limits: [replace]
Known lens/framing/height information, or explicit unknowns: [replace]

Ask for missing essential facts or contradictory rules. Do not copy sample counts, positions or the sample's side rule. Do not invent footage, hidden room clearance or a rehearsal. Check every drawn coordinate and each action's coverage; explain any ideal projection assumptions. Provide a blank physical/viewpoint check for a person using safe positions, and keep it unperformed. Save originals unchanged; do not film, contact people or publish. If a mismatch is found, return complete corrected map and ledger.
Optional: improve the result

See what becomes blocked without the wide

Return to the original sample chat, or paste its complete Input and checked Output again. This optional sample-only change does not authorize filming or changing the owner rule.

Advanced prompt
For the original sample only, suppose C1 is temporarily unavailable and no new positions or framing facts are supplied. Remove S1 from the proposed shot list. Recompute coverage using the remaining supplied singles. Mark complete joint reaction and complete transfer coverage unresolved; do not relabel singles as a proved wide. Explain what additional owner-approved framing information or rehearsal would be needed to propose a replacement on y<0. Keep every physical check unperformed.
Show, then try

The intended result

Illustrative output
Authored camera-geometry example, not a recorded AI run, rehearsal, filmed shot or edit.

MAP AND ADMISSIBILITY
camera-axis-map.svg/.png is an actual 760 × 800 top-down diagram. Its coordinate group maps world (x,y) to screen (380+80x,340−80y). A=(-1,0), B=(1,0), card center=(0,0) and axis y=0 remain exact. The colored lower area is the allowed y<0 side. C1=(0,-3), C2=(-2,-2), C3=(2,-2) qualify; C4=(0,3) fails and is unused. A candidate on y=0 would fail too.

PROPOSED SHOTS
S1 | C1 | aim (0,0) | wide two-shot | Start with the card on the tabletop; show A picking it up and giving it to B, B reading, and both reacting. Keep both actors and the entire handoff visible. Coverage must be confirmed in a real frame.
S2 | C3 | aim A=(-1,0) | A single | A side of the handoff and A reaction; do not claim B or the complete transfer is shown.
S3 | C2 | aim B=(1,0) | B single | B receiving and reading the card, then B reaction; do not claim A or the complete transfer is shown.
C4 is not a backup position under this rule. Do not move to it merely to solve a framing problem.

ACTION COVERAGE
R1 A giving B a card: complete coverage proposed in S1; S2/S3 provide complementary sides only.
R2 B reading it: proposed in S1 and S3.
R3 both reacting: complete joint coverage proposed in S1; S2 and S3 cover individual reactions only and do not independently establish the joint shot.
These are capture requirements, not claims that coverage exists. Keep the card's initial tabletop location, transfer and later possession consistent across any eventual takes.

PLANNED SCREEN DIRECTION
For a top-down, level, unmirrored ideal camera aimed toward the actors, a screen-right vector is (forward_y, −forward_x). At C1 aimed at (0,0), forward=(0,3), so screen-right=(3,0): A projects left of B. If C2 or C3 were used as midpoint-aimed wides, the respective screen-right vectors (2,−2) and (2,2) also put A left of B. At rejected C4 the corresponding vector is (−3,0), reversing that ordering. These calculations concern this ideal geometric model; they do not verify a real lens, camera roll, mirroring or framing.
For S2 at C3 aiming at A, forward=(−3,2), screen-right=(2,3); A looking toward B has positive right-component, so A's proposed eyeline is screen-right. For S3 at C2 aiming at B, forward=(3,2), screen-right=(2,−3); B looking toward A has negative right-component, so B's proposed eyeline is screen-left. This is the planned reverse-shot relationship, not a measured onscreen result.

UNKNOWN AND FUTURE CHECKS
Lens, height, frame width, room clearance, occlusion, performers' exact gaze and actual footage remain unknown. Place labeled paper actors and the card on a tabletop map; use a comfortable phone viewpoint to check left/right at C1 and opposing eyelines at C2/C3. Do not cross the supplied side boundary or use an unsafe physical position. Then inspect actual rehearsed frames and the complete transfer/reading/joint-reaction sequence before filming decisions. The blank rehearsal card has no fabricated observations. If the real view fails, revise within the permitted candidates or ask the owner to revise the constraint; geometry alone is not a successful rehearsal.

You’re the final check

Check the worked example.

These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.

Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.

A few things to watch for.

  • A camera-side label without exact coordinates can hide an axis crossing.
  • Two singles do not prove that a wide exists or that the complete card transfer was visible.
  • A schematic cannot establish screen direction in mirrored, rolled or differently framed footage. Check actual views.
